Why a science week?
In nowadays society it is desirable that the pupils have a greater culture every day, but it's impossible to extend the hours of class indefinitely so that everything that today is considered a learned person should know can be explained at school.
Having considered the optional character of the sciences studies, there are pupils that end secondary education with very little scientific culture while the new society demands not only a collection of knowledge but also, and specially, the ability to find information and analyze it. This is why we want to develop activities in which the pupils get voluntarily implied, making use of interactive experimentation techniques, that are very successful in science museums.

How was it articulated?
To turn the teaching and learning of science into a true game, the pupils must approach to it in an inquisitive and curious way. With the company of a monitor, the visitants travel across the great chapters of physics: mechanic, thermodynamic, waves, electromagnetism without formalisms or equations, sometimes in a surprising and/or recreational way.
The project was translated into an exposition of physical and chemical experiments that allowed anyone to understand the phenomena and its explanation. Our intention was to visualize and explain familiar and known usual facts in an interactive and recreational way.
The exposition pretended to be an introduction to science and, above all, its application to everyday life. The objective was not to insist in the theoretical part as much as in the practice or manipulative ones. It is remarkable the use of simple and easy to acquire material.
In the IES A Xunqueira and IES de Poio institutes were realized two science and technology weeks. In the 2003-2004 courses the presented experiences received a award for educational innovation from the Consellería de Educación e O.U. of the Xunta de Galicia. The event was repeated in the 2004-2005 course with new experiments. Although there were experiments in physics, chemistry, biology, geology and technology, here we show physics experiments only. The expositions were very well received. In the first edition 1400 persons visited it and in the second edition 1700 persons from schools and institutes of the area.

Aknowledgements
The authors want to thank the people and institutions that made possible, with their collaboration, the making of the expositions: the Council of Pontevedra and Poio, the IES of Poio, the IES A Xunqueira of Pontevedra, the Consellería de Educación e O.U. and all the teachers and pupils who participated and contributed to the success of the weeks.
